CCHS Celebrates Its 62nd Annual Meeting

Building Strong Leadership to Help Preserve History

Claremont, CA: Conference of California Historical Societies is hosting its 62nd Annual Meeting June 23-25 in Claremont. We are excited to offer workshops on leadership and development geared towards helping historical organizations overcome the difficulties smaller organizations face, as well as presentations on aspects of California history that have influenced the State today.

John Lenau, CCHS’s President, said, “Our organization is aiming higher than ever before with our Annual Meeting.  We have remarkable speakers lined up who can bring history to life or help reinvigorate your historical society with new programs and ways to reach out to your community. We really want everyone to succeed in their organization’s missions and have a good time.”

To achieve this momentous effort to strengthening historic organizations and spread the love of California history, CCHS executed the following tactics:

  • CCHS has reached out to local historical to find speakers passionate about history and who know how to get people involved.
  • CCHS e-mailed historical organizations from across California to share this opportunity to connect with other organizations and learn from each others’ strengths.
  • Secured Keynote Speaker Craig Zeff from the California Natural Resources Agency who will talk about grant funding during Friday’s lunch.
  • Conclude Saturday with an Awards Dinner to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of individuals serving the interests of CCHS.

About CCHS: CCHS was founded in 1954 as a state-wide organization that helps historians, and others interested in California history, to connect and share information- joining efforts to preserve records, artifacts, sites and buildings.  www.californiahistorian.com
