Location

Claremont is a city in eastern Los Angeles County, California.  Due to its large number of trees and residents with doctoral degrees, it is sometimes referred to as "The City of Trees and PhDs".  It has been a winner of the National Arbor Day Association's Tree City USA award for 22 consecutive years.  Claremont is primarily residential, with a significant portion of its commercial activity revolving around "The Village", a popular collection of street-front small stores, boutiques, art galleries, offices, and restaurants.  It is surrounded by Upland, Montclair, Pomona and La Verne.

Getting there

Driving Directions
Just off the 210.  Take exit 50/Towne Avenue south (away from the mountains) for about 0.8 mi.  Turn left onto Foothill Blvd/CA-66 for about 1 mi.  DoubleTree will be on your left

Just off the 10.  Take exit 47/Indian Hill Blvd north (towards mountains) for 1.8 miles.  Turn left onto Foothill Blvd/CA-66 for .2 miles. DoubleTree will be on your right.

Take the 1st left onto Archibald Ave. Merge onto the I-10 West via the ramp on the left.  Take the Indian Hill Blvd exit. Turn right onto Indian Hill Blvd.  Turn left onto W. Foothill Blvd/CA-66.  The DoubleTree will be on your right.

Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden

Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden is the largest botanic garden dedicated to California native plants.  Nestled in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, the Garden offers beautiful mountain vistas.  The Garden displays about 2000 taxa of California plants and includes those native to the California Floristic Province as a whole.  Docents lead tours of the Garden periodically.  Guidebooks and brochures are available at the California Garden Shop.

Fairplex/LA County Fairgrounds

Having begun in 1922 with 43 acres (170,000 m2) donated by the City of Pomona, the Fairplex grounds now cover 543 acres (2.2 km2) and include nearly 325,000 square feet (30,200 m2) of indoor exhibit space. Slightly less than half of the grounds are given over to paved parking areas to accommodate 30,000 vehicles. Among other features of Fairplex are various scenic parks, plazas and picnic areas, a historic train exhibit, and 12 acres (49,000 m2) of carnival grounds.
